The IcARUS project has experimented with the Design Thinking methodology in the field of urban security. The methodology has fostered a culture open to innovation in order to challenge assumptions, better understand end-user needs and requirements and redefine problems with experts and practitioners from different fields. The six partner cities have developed six custom-made tools to address specific security challenges. By fostering collaborative efforts and engaging a wide range of stakeholders, the project has shifted the partner cities' mindset towards practical, solution-oriented approaches.
