The city of Stuttgart, the capital of the southwestern German federal state of Baden-Württemberg, is very proud to participate in the ICARUS project. The city and its around 635.000 citizens are well known for their spirit of innovation and optimism. Stuttgart is the hometown of the automobile and one of the most liveable cities in Europe. It is in this spirit that the municipality of Stuttgart participates in ICARUS in order to enhance urban security.
Urban security and social cohesion have always been a keystone of Stuttgart’s local policies. In order to strengthen the city and its citizens, the municipality always dared to break the mould and relied on innovation. The longstanding security concept “Partnership for Security” and the concept “Stuttgart’s Path to Integration” are the product of this open-minded approach to communal life. Crime prevention activities in the city are coordinated by the Crime Prevention Office (SOS-KKP), affiliated with the Department of the Deputy Mayor for Safety and Order.
